Anti-Bullying
All pupils at Park Hall Academy have the right to education free of unwanted fears generated by bullying. Pupils can only reach their full potential if they feel secure in their learning environment.
We abhor bullying because its ill effects can last a person's lifetime, and it is never justified.
Our tutorial curriculum and PSHE provision weave key anti-bullying themes into wider pastoral and personal, social and health education. These topics include:
- Online bullying – being assertive
- Online bullying and my role
- Bullying or banter?
- Positive relationships
- Keeping good friendships
We use tutor time specifically to give the opportunity for students to sign their tutor groups anti-bullying charters and ensure all students have an acute awareness of bullying in all of its forms and what to do if they experience it personally or see another student experiencing it. We also use an extended tutor time to explore the 9 protected characteristics, ensuring understanding and compassion.
Our anti-bullying month this year has been focussed on reaching out, encouraging students to ‘call out’ bullying behaviour and report it.
Report it and stop bullying!
All students are encouraged to report any bullying that may occur at Park Hall. There are many avenues to do this. Any student can talk to any member of staff to raise a concern. Most staff members have a ‘listening ear’ lanyard which is turquoise and signals to students that they will stop what they are doing to listen to any concern a student may have. In addition, students can Click here which allows them to send a message directly into the school’s safeguarding and pastoral team.
